For years, I’ve had the same journaling practice. Write one page, cap it off with listing a gratitude from the past 24 hours. Lately, I’ve been ~good~ with my journaling (read: I’m doing it consistently) — but I’m not enjoying it so much. I find myself halfway through the page and getting distracted.
So! I shifted my process and decided to mix things up. Every day for the past couple weeks, I’ve picked a prompt or two to write on that gets my wheels turning. In the spirit of self-love and exploration, I wanted to bring a few of those prompts to this installment of the Weekly Hurdle that have really resonated with me lately. I encourage you to take some time to write on the below, whether it’s today, next week, next month — whenever. You may be surprised what comes up for you:
What helps you stay grounded?
Where is your favorite place to be?
Describe a time you felt truly attractive.
What is something kind you can do for yourself today?
Who is the first person you want to share good or bad news with?
How would you like to be described?
Who is one person you can speak with and always leave feeling better about yourself?
What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?
What are you most looking forward to right now?
Chime in below by clicking the button and share one of your answers. Let’s get a discussion going.
Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
I’m Listening To: The Science of Happiness: “How to Feel Less Pressed for Time”
Love the sentiments of this episode — slowing down to help others makes us feel like we personally have more time. It really made me think: How often do I do this? What does it look like in my regular routine?
Gear I’m Loving: ASICS Nimbus 26
I just got in the pair that I’ll be wearing for the Tokyo Marathon, and I felt like Cinderella opening the box. A high-cushion option for neutral runners, this sneaker is the perfect mix of comfortable, springy, and stylish.
What I’m Reading: “Is There Something Wrong With My Knees Or Am I Just In My 30s?” from SELF.com
Hi. It’s me.
What I’m Watching: One Day on Netflix
Really loving Ambika Mod in this romantic series about two friends who evolve into adulthood after spending their graduation night together. Lighthearted, witty, and cutesy.
Quote I’m Loving: "You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level." — Eckhart Tolle
Thanks to Future — a new workout experience that pairs you one-on-one with your own fitness coach — for supporting Hurdle.
The amount of messages I’ve received from hurdlers who are feeling lost with their workout routine lately has skyrocketed dramically. I don’t want you to feel lost, but if you are — I am happy that I have this offer to give you. Enter Future, a workout app that pairs you with a coach who will map out a plan based on your goals, with workouts delivered to your phone each week.
Future, your Apple Watch (don’t worry, then loan you one for free if you don’t have!), and the app all pair seamlessly so you and your coach can track your progress, celebrate achievements, and keep you accountable every day. I have absolutely loved working with my coach Brandon, and I feel comfortable knowing he’s got my best interest in mind — planning workouts specifically for me (and my body/injury history). He’s so good at following up with me post-sweat, asking how the different movements felt, and communicating to help me get to where I want to be.

Every conversation with today’s guest is a clarifying breath of fresh air, and this conversation is no different. Co-CEO and founding teacher at The Class Natalie Kuhn is full of wisdom when it comes to the concept of resilience. She opens up about how she dealt with a multitude of hurdles in her personal life while maintaining a positive perspective, and her ability to detach herself from an outcome. Trust me, Natalie is going to forever change the way you think about challenge.
