Presented by AG1:
This might sound a little dramatic, but daily gratitude changed my life. My journaling practice may ebb and flow, but one non-negotiable thing for me is writing down something I’m grateful for from the past 24 hours before leaving the house in the morning for my workout. On the days that I have a difficult time thinking about what I want to put onto the paper, it’s a reminder to be more present and less on autopilot. And that reminder? It’s essential when I’m moving a million miles a minute, constantly working to execute projects while ideating on my favorite question: “what’s next?”
By taking this super small amount of time to note the good, I see more of it regularly. Which research co-signs. Experts found that incorporating the practice of gratitude encourages even more positive experiences, plus — reduces stress-inducing hormones while increasing “feel-good" ones. Admittedly, starting anything from scratch can feel a bit overwhelming.
Today’s daily gratitude(s): A new hometown turkey trot PR — a beautiful experience that is improving despite not desiring to compete with my younger self, but rather be the best version of me right this very moment. Thanksgiving’s entire maroon, monochromatic outfit. My health. My safety. Tyler Florence’s bacon-topped turkey. And, arguably most importantly, all of you. The hurdlers — in 220+ different countries — who make showing up week after week a gift within itself.
Thank you for encouraging me to be my best self, and for simply being in my corner. It’s one of my greatest gifts.
TELL ME: What’s one of your gratitudes from the past 24 hours?
Keep hurdling,
GIFTING IDEAS // A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS
(some of which, just happen to be on sale RN)
Athleta Sateen Bomber, 30% Off
This is both super cute and warm! The perfect jacket to throw on for errands or my short walk to the gym, it’s stylish and cozy enough to wear in chilly temps — unlike other thinner options. Love the subtle shine, size down if you prefer a more close-cut look. I have it in olive, and it’s a staple.
I Ran The Marathon Candle from Literie, 20% off
I received this as a gift earlier this month and thought it was so clever. Of course, this brand has so many other clever options, including Baking Christmas Cookies, Apple Picking In Hudson Valley, Late Fees at the Library, Weekends Playing Pickleball, Lighting the Hanukkah Candles — and so many more.
ASICS Novablast 5
These just came out, which means they’re excluded from sales everywhere. But! It’s the newest iteration of one of my favorite daily trainers, and I’m so geeked to personally get my hands on a pair. Perfect amount of cushion and comfort to wear regularly for longer runs, but also springy and lightweight enough to pick up the pace.
Best Self Co. 13-Week Journal, 10% Off
I’ve been using this journal (seen above) for the past four years. It’s designed to be swapped out quarterly, and helps me both plan my long-term goals as well as implement an every-day schedule. Seriously cannot recommend enough, as the format is the most user-friendly I’ve seen. A GREAT gift for someone you love and inspires you to go after big things.
Gorjana Wider Mini Alphabet Bracelet, discount depends on overall spend
I love the idea of stacking a few of these.
The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest
Ordered this for some friends and family this year (if you’re my friends or my family, ignore this). Love everything that Brianna Wiest writes, and especially love starting my day reading an excerpt instead of reaching for my phone.
Postcard Cabins Stay, 35% off
I’m big on gifting experiences, and one of my favorites is currently on major discount. I try to do a trip to one of these every year, and I so appreciate the time in nature — either with loved ones or solo. Formerly known as Getaway House, these cabins are near a lot of major cities.
Apple AirPods 4, free gift with purchase
The active noise canceling on the newest AirPod is actually a total game-changer. You can also get free engraving with your purchase (and it will arrive well before the holidays).
Nike Air Jordan Mid, 29% off
An $87 pair of Jordans is a pretty great buy, and there are a lot of colorways that are included in this deal.
Athleta Cloud Sock, 30% Off
Super simple and easy. The older I get, the more a solid pair of socks really makes me geeked. I’m wearing this cloud sock around my apartment almost daily (friends and family, you didn’t see this, either).
Lululemon Oversized Half-Zip, $35 off
I always think this is such a great gift, because it’s a really well-made sweatshirt at a price point that some folks wouldn’t want to indulge in themselves. Love the navy color, but there’s truly a shade for every taste.
Thanks to AG1 — the daily foundational nutrition supplement that supports whole-body health — for supporting Hurdle.
I originally gave AG1 a try years ago because I was tired of taking so many supplements and wanted a single solution that supports my entire body and covers my nutritional bases. I wanted better gut health, a boost in energy, immune system support, and also wanted a supplement that actually tastes great. And I can tell you — it checks all of those boxes.
In a recent study, AG1 revealed that participants had the same feelings of energy, focus, and supported digestion that I’ve had using AG1. For example, after 60 days, 91% of participants in a research study noticed they needed less coffee; after 90 days, 97% of study participants felt their digestion improved.
I shake up AG1 every morning after my workout, and truly it makes me feel energized and confident knowing that I’m doing something good for my body by giving it the nutrition I deserve — including 75 whole food-sourced ingredients, prebiotics, probiotics, adaptogens, and superfoods.
If you want to take ownership of your health, it starts with AG1. Try AG1 and get a FREE 1-year supply of Vitamin D3/K2 AND five free AG1 travel packs with your first purchase. Go to drinkAG1.com/hurdle.
NEW PODCAST EPISODE🎧: Embracing Greatness: Rhasidat Adeleke On Her Olympic Debut, Finding Her Fast & Defining 'Success'
I’ve done plenty of live shows in my almost seven years of podcasting. Still, there was something really special about Wednesday night in Austin. Roughly 1,700+ miles from home, I sat down in a packed Austin venue of 150+ women with our surprise guest — 2024 Olympian and the fastest woman from Ireland, Rhasidat Adeleke. We talked about what it was like for her to move to the states for college from Ireland and to level up within sport, and how she’s managed the heartbreak of coming in fourth at the Games.
We laughed. We cried. We smiled — a lot.
I sat there in awe. Of her mindset, tenacity, and vulnerability, especially when it came to recapping that August race. In this week's episode, she talks about the highs and lows of competition, embracing the good with the bad, and whether or not she has a favorite taco in Austin. Plus: Her hopes for "what's next?" and her favorite Nike sneaker.
