Presented by Hyperice:
Last year on my birthday, I wrote in my journal “I hope the following year brings me peace and abundance.” Defined, abundance is the plentifulness of the good things of life — prosperity. While I still have many, many aspirations and goals that I have yet to accomplish, I’ve noticed that choosing to focus on the good over the past year has indeed brought me so much more of it.
This weekend, I turn another year older. I feel more aligned than perhaps ever before. And, if I do an inventory — abundant, too. For me in practice, that looks like the good in my life keeping me grounded when things don’t go my way. When I feel frustrated, I can zoom out. And trust, I definitely still get frustrated (also: Sad, angry, anxious, [insert emotion here] ). But, I have a realistic perspective that what is for me won’t pass me by.
In my experience, abundance shows up when you learn to be grateful for what you have rather than bitter about what you do not. Two changes I’ve made in my adult life that bring me into this place:
Begin every day with a gratitude practice: I try to journal every morning. When I do, I finish every page with something that I’m grateful for from the past 24 hours. When life feels hectic and I hop immediately into my day (read: neglect journaling) — I am deliberate about up keeping that practice by shooting a note to trade highlights with a friend. It’s a fun way to communicate with someone you care about, and without fail brings positivity to the start of your next 24.
Focus on the faucets. There are energy faucets and energy drains in your life. Faucets, as you may expect, are those that fill up your cup. They’re rejuvenating. Often leave you feeling better than before you came into contact with them; good people. Then, there are drains — the people that sometimes we feel obligated to. Those that hurt us (albeit, unintentionally at times). The boss that makes you question if you’ll ever be enough. The guy that’s gaslighting you constantly. The friend who pokes at your insecurities — and thinks it’s “funny.” To the best of my ability, I keep the faucets in my orbit and squash the drains. It’s not always easy to walk away, but when you dedicate your energy to those that lift you up — you’ll find that you, too, provide that faucet energy for others.
An abundance mindset takes time to get to. But once you do? That ease is irreplaceable. With that said, cheers Geminis. It’s our season!
TELL ME: Do you feel like you have abundance in your life? What does that look like for you?

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
I’m Listening To: Nice Talk with Nikki Ogunnaike
My dear friend, Marie Claire Editor-In-Chief Nikki Ogunnaike, launched her new podcast this week! The name, which I adore, gives color to walking away from a conversation feeling empowered. Her guests, starting with episode one’s Victoria Justice, get candid on how they navigated their come-ups, what makes them feel powerful (and powerless), and how they use their personal style to communicate with the world.
Gear I’m Loving: Madewell The Harlow Wide-Leg Jean
Not at all fitness-related, but I’ve been on the hunt for a cozy linen white pant for-ev-er. Ultimately, I’ve learned that linen pants just aren’t for me (the wrinkling, the fact that you can see my skin through my pants). However, I decided to give this pick from Madewell a try and couldn’t be happier I did. Super lightweight, they give linen vibes, and cozy enough to lounge in, too.
Prompt I’m Loving: Give yourself a compliment that has nothing to do with physical attributes.
Quote I’m Loving: “Peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.” — unknown
Thanks to Hyperice for supporting Hurdle.
I take recovery very seriously, and a integral part of my toolkit is the lineup of Hyperice products, including Hypervolt percussion massage, Normatec air compression technology, and Venom heat and massage wearables. I use all of their products throughout my training, but my favorite are the Normatec Go sleeves, which are portable compression sleeves small enough to fit in any travel bag so I can recover while on the road. They were an absolute game changer while I trained for Tokyo.
Head to hyperice.com and use code HURDLESPRING for 15% off non sale items and an extra 5% off the Normatec and Hypervolt lines.

If you’re looking to grow your career or pivot to a role that inspires you, listen up.
