Presented by InsideTracker:
I bumped into a friend early yesterday morning that I hadn’t seen in a while. She’s in her super busy season right now for work. We caught up, talked about this and that. She told me that on her commute into the office shortly before we crossed paths, she was saying to herself “I am exhausted.” She then, in the dialogue with herself, followed that up with “but how lucky am I that I love the thing that makes me feel this way? So it’s hard, but it’s good.”
I appreciated her perspective, but I smiled and had something to add.
“I hear that. But it’s OK to be both, you know? It can be hard, and you can get it done. You can also both love the work that you’re doing and be tired. It happens to all of us.”
“You’re so right,” she said.
Having gratitude is important. It helps us keep things in perspective, especially when they feel overwhelming and a little bit sporadic. But remember: No matter how thankful you are for a situation, that doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to rest. It doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to struggle or be tired. The gratitude doesn’t negate the importance of putting your oxygen mask on first. Then, you have the opportunity to get back up and get back to work.
… and what a great opportunity it is.
Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
I’m Listening To: Kerry Washington on Smartless
These guys make me laugh out loud, and Kerry Washington is an absolute gem. Great episode.
I’m Watching: CrossFit Games
Kicking off yesterday, the NOBULL CrossFit Games are this weekend and I’m geeked. Having the opportunity to go a few times in person, I love watching these outrageous athletes compete. Want some insight to what takes to be the “Fittest Woman on Earth”? Listen to Tia-Clair Toomey, Katrin Davidsdottir, or Annie Thorisdottir on Hurdle.
Gear I’m Loving: Glycerin StealthFit GTS 20
From Chelsey — “I’ve been running in these for a week, and they’re already quickly climbing to the top of my favorite running shoe list. I am typically one to shy away from a sock-like upper as I like more structure, but these are the perfect balance of stretch and compression. I am excited to see how they feel on my next double digit run.”
Quote I’m Loving: "Just because things aren't working out the way you want them to doesn't mean they're not working out the way they're supposed to." — unknown

When you do what you love — like running, racing, and enjoying the great outdoors — you want to do it for life. InsideTracker can help.
InsideTracker was founded in 2009 by leading scientists in aging, genetics, and biometrics. Using their patented algorithm, InsideTracker analyzes your body’s data to provide you with a clear picture of what's going on inside you and to offer you science-backed recommendations for positive diet and lifestyle changes.
It’s been really helpful for me. Last summer I was feeling super sluggish on my runs. I did an InsideTracker panel — including mobile blood draw and DNA swab — and was able to get important insight as to what was going on with me and my body (TLDR; My iron and ferritin levels were low). Then, I adjusted my diet and training so that I could better go after my health and wellness goals. I’ve got another Ultimate Test scheduled for this coming Monday morning; perfect timing as my training picks up for marathon No. 12 in the fall, and I want to go in feeling my best.

Plus, her excitement over her sponsorship deal with Omorpho, and how she feels about what's next (hint: the 2024 Paris Games).
🎧 NEW PODCAST EPISODE: #HURDLEMOMENT: A Mindset Coach On How to Handle Hurdles With Grace (& Why They’re Actually Good For You)
What if I was to tell you that #hurdlemoments actually are good for you? That's right, the unknown and challenging moments are the ones that actually make us better, which is what mindset expert and 2-time Olympian Courtney Thompson is on the show to talk about. She offers up resiliency strategies, and answers a slew of advice when it comes to showing up to tough moments and coming out on the other side stronger (and better for it).
