Presented by Future:
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
I’ve been thinking about that sentence a lot lately. It came to me when talking about the array of things I do to make the podcast come to fruition week after week. For a while now, I’ve been testing out different audio experts to offload the editing/production process. Yet, nothing (and no one) has stuck. “I just feel as though I do it so well,” I told someone in conversation. “And if I’m not spending X amount of time doing this for ‘work,’ then what else would I be doing?”
I heard the words come out of my mouth. My subconscious responded almost immediately:
“The stuff you actually like doing.”
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
There are thing we do in life because we’re comfortable. But just because something’s comfortable doesn’t mean it’s in your best interest. Sometimes, comfortable’s actually something that’s holding you back from whatever it is that you really want. Sometimes, staying comfortable means staying small. Sometimes, comfortable can even be detrimental.
Adversely — change can be difficult. Change involves unknown. It’s understandable that you may be hesitant to doing something different, since the unknown can feel scary. But, on the other side of your comfort zone, hang a right at unknown and that leads to endless possibility.
I like possibilities. Which means, it’s about time that I stop standing in my own way from leveling up.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
Food for thought. Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
I’m Listening To: Mystical Magic Rhythmical Radical Ride by Jason Mraz
Listening to Jason Mraz brings me back to studying for college finals. On my first listen of this new album, but definitely feeling nostalgic.
I’m Watching: How I’m Feeling Now on Netflix
I only recently learned about Lewis Capaldi’s Tourette syndrome diagnosis, and that there was a Netflix documentary released on the “Someone You Loved” singer earlier this year. In it, he talks about dealing with the pressures that come hand-in-hand with fame while navigating mental health issues.
Gear I’m Loving: Saucony Endrophin Shift
It’s been a long time since I’ve obsessed over a sneaker this much. I’ve done four runs in the Endorphin Shift, and I’m hooked. It’s got Saucony’s PWRRUN foam, which is a bit more firm than other sneakers I’ve been rotating through lately. In the neutral shoe, I feel tall, stable, and in control. I’ll be leaning into this option for a lot of my base mileage working toward Berlin. Best part? Saucony offers everyone 10% off their $75+ purchase upon clicking the above link!
I’m Reading: Live Learn Lovewell by Emma Lovewell
Emma stopped by the studio yesterday and brought me a copy of her new book! Excited to dive in and bring that conversation to the podcast feed in the coming weeks.
Quote I’m Loving: "Everybody has a talent, but it is what you do with that talent to make it great." — Alex Morgan

NEW PODCAST EPISODE🎧: 257. Ajla Tomljanović, Pro Tennis Player
Ajla Tomljanović knows the hardships of injury all-too-well. For this week's episode, I sit down with one of the best tennis players of her time to chat about the highs and lows of taking time off, and how it feels for her to take a back seat after a runaway year in 2022 defeating legend Serena Williams in her final match at the U.S. Open. She shares a lot about her mentality on and off the court, plus how it feels to have so many eyes on her as a rising star. Plus: How she knows when the "right" time will be to get back into the game after a nagging knee injury, and why she adores training with Omorpho's weighted gear.
NEW PODCAST EPISODE🎧: #HURDLEMOMENT: An Expert On How To Reduce Inflammation In the Body
Leading into my next marathon training block, I decided it was smart to do a blood test via InsideTracker. As a result, I asked Michelle Darian, RD and Marketing Manager for Science and Product at InsideTracker on the show. This is so much bigger than interpreting ~my~ results, though. For this episode, we focus on understanding what inflammation is, why we want some (but not a lot), and how to reduce or lessen it in a safe way via both environmental and dietary shifts. Plus: Why we need to be cognizant about what's going on in our bodies, how iron and ferritin can impact women — especially within exercise, and more.
