Presented by Future (which is now 50% off your first month of training):
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Closing out the year, this is a sentiment I keep coming back to. One I’d encourage you to say aloud a few times, too. There’s probably something in your life right now that’s less than desirable. Maybe you’re really ready for a new home, less than happy in your personal life, or looking to get into a new workout routine in the new year. So I repeat: Nothing changes if nothing changes. While you may want all of those things, the question arises: What are you willing to do to make it happen?
That’s where working backward could work in your favor. So, if you want to try a new fitness routine in the new year, that begins with logistics: What is it? What’s your motivation for doing that? What systems need to be set into place so we can ensure you’re successful? Identifying your desired change, knowing your why, and thinking of potential hurdles to success will be essential to the process. Essential to getting to the place you truly want to be.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Yeah, let’s mull on that. Talk in 2025, y’all.
Prompt: What’s one thing you’re after in the new year, and what will you have to change to make that goal happen?
Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
I’m Listening To: “Make Change That Lasts: Break Free From Bad Habits & Transform Your Life For Good With Dr. Rangan Chatterjee” on The Rich Roll Podcast
It’s been a minute since I queued up some Rich Roll. A friend sent me this, and it made for a great listen on this morning’s run. In the conversation, Dr. Chatterjee deconstructs why we remain tethered to patterns that no longer serve us, while offering actionable tools for lasting change.
I’m Reading: How To Love Better by Yung Pueblo
After having Diego on the show last year, I became an even greater fan of his. His team sent over an advanced copy of his upcoming book before we chat in a couple weeks (again!) — and I’m so looking forward for you all to get your copies in March.
Gear I Love: Oura Ring 4
I recently had a battery issue with my Oura Ring, and their customer service team replaced it for me after some easy, remote testing. I love the data it gives me (specifically on my sleep), and I’m always in disbelief how often I get complimented on this ring as if it were regular jewelry. I don’t have any sort of partnership with Oura, so without bias — I will say it’s probably one of my favorite pieces of gear of 2024.
Quote I Love: “I am still in progress, and I hope that I always will be.” — Michelle Obama
Thanks to Future — a workout experience that pairs you one-on-one with your own fitness coach — for supporting Hurdle.
I receive messaged from hurdlers who are feeling lost with their workout routine every single day. I don’t want you to feel lost, but if you are — I am happy that I have this offer to give you. Enter Future, a workout app that pairs you with a coach who will map out a plan based on your goals, with workouts delivered to your phone each week.
Future, your Apple Watch (don’t worry, then loan you one for free if you don’t have!), and the app all pair seamlessly so you and your coach can track your progress, celebrate achievements, and keep you accountable every day. I have absolutely loved working with my coach Brandon, and I feel comfortable knowing he’s got my best interest in mind — planning workouts specifically for me (and my body/injury history). He’s so good at following up with me post-sweat, asking how the different movements felt, and communicating to help me get to where I want to be.
