Presented by LMNT:
Sitting still takes strength.
Read that again.
I’ve been thinking on this a lot lately. I’m the kind of person who likes to go, go, go. I lost count of how many flights I took this year, and I feel (and work) best when I have something on the horizon before I’m done with my current project. As of now, though, I don’t have any travel upcoming (aside from a hop down to Washington D.C. in January) — and I’m spending most of my days working from home.
TLDR: I’m sitting still … a lot.
At first, I didn’t like it. Now? I’m getting used to it. I recognize that there’s some thinking and feeling that I’ve been putting off because I haven’t made the conscious choice to simply be OK with doing nothing. Well, nothing compared to everything, anyway.
In my stillness, I’m recognizing that there’s growth to be had. Reflecting on the last 12 months, I’m asking myself: What do I want to do next? (Instead of jumping at the very first thing that comes on my radar.) Am I doing work that’s aligned with who I’m working to become? What did I do over the past year that felt most fulfilling? How can I do more of that?
Sitting still takes strength.
… and just like any other exercise, the more reps you put in — the stronger you become.
PROMPT: What’s something you did this year that felt really rewarding?
Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
Gear I’m Loving: Fast & Free Thermal Tight
I hate that these are so expensive, but I’m obsessed with them. Let’s face it: It’s that time of year, at least in the northeast, when you’re hunting down all of the best cold-weather gear. These tights are among my favorites in the winter, and when they’re in the laundry — it’s my signal to get that done. FIVE total pockets, that feel-good compression, and the extra warmth with the cozy brushed lining? Yes, yes, yes.
I’m Listening To: Sue Bird & Megan Rapinoe on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard
The four of them together, they’re just hilarious.
Prompt I’m Loving: What do you want to keep, stop, and start doing in 2025?
Quote I’m Loving: “Taking a moment to figure out how you really feel instead of letting old patterns decide for you is one of the most authentic things you can do”

NEW ON THE SHOW 🎧
On the cusp of a new year, it's time to talk about what's coming down the pipe in the world of wellness. I sat down with my dear friend Amy Eisinger, Head of Content at Well+Good, to talk about their annual wellness trends report and what we should look to focus on in the new year. We talk about the concept of hard vs. soft wellness, the rise of recovery tourism, the power of alone time, and why we should be prioritizing biophilia in 2025. I always learn something new from Amy when we chat, and this conversation enabled us both to dial in on what we want to prioritize as we look to kick off another year.
Thanks to LMNT — an electrolyte drink mix with everything you need and nothing you don't — for supporting Hurdle.
Gotta give some love to LMNT, zero-sugar hydration to support your active lifestyle. I’m a salty sweater (cute, I know). These electrolytes are my go-to to perform better. I like them not just because they taste great (the watermelon salt is my favorite as of late), but they’re also without artificial ingredients, sugar, and coloring. With LMNT, you can:
☀️ Kickstart your mornings
💪 Fuel workouts and improve recovery
They’ve got a flavor for every taste (my personal go-tos are grapefruit and watermelon). Head to DrinkLMNT.com/Hurdle to get a FREE LMNT sample pack with any purchase. Another (weekly) Hurdle conquered. Catch you guys next week.
I left my toxic job of over 3 years back in May! Lots of ups and downs in the search since, but no matter what's happened I don't regret my decision one bit. Now I'm ending the year in a freelance role at my dream company! Even though I'm worried about securing something full time when my contract ends early in the new year, I'm so proud of myself for taking that leap this year and know it will all work out.
I left my job as a critical care nurse and went into hospice nursing. I loved my hospital job but needed a change that would benefit family time. I absolutely loved hospice nursing but the management was less than ideal and I needed to get out. Out of the blue, my previous manager offered me a PRN position back on my old floor. I saw that message as fate and went back. I have no regrets about any of these changes as it only made me a better nurse. Death with dignity is so important to me and there is something so beautiful and special about taking care of someone in their last weeks, days, and even minutes of their life. I know this seems like an unusual comment, but all the change in this made me a better human and an even better nurse. I remind myself often that in the moment, you may not understand the struggles of life whether it is a career change, personal struggles, etc., but once you get to the other side, you understand the reason you were put through these challenges and you come out so much stronger!
