Will you be in Boston next week? I’d love to see you leading up to Monday’s Marathon! I’ll be hosting a conversation at the Run Puma House this Thursday at 6 p.m. and another Saturday at 5:30 p.m. with my friends at InsideTracker. RSVP here for Thursday and enter for a chance to join Saturday, here.
Presented by LMNT:
I went to Moab, Utah, for the first time this week. I stayed at a ranch about 20 minutes from the center of town right on the Colorado River, complete with dozens of statuesque horses, one of the most plush, comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in, and an impressive amount of local craft beers on tap.
I was walking back to my cabin after dinner on Wednesday night when I stopped right in my tracks in the middle of the cold driveway and looked up. The sky was lit up with stars, and instantly my knowledge of the solar system circa 8th grade trips to the planetarium and endless stargazing nights at summer camp came flooding back. I spotted the Big Dipper. Orion’s Belt. It was even dark enough to catch a glimmer of the Milky Way. (Read: Things you don’t see in Brooklyn.)
I closed my eyes for just a minute and took a deep breath. For the first time in a long time my mind felt completely blank. Thoughts weren’t assaulting my calm. A light breeze kissed my cheeks as the silence engulfed me. I thought to myself: This is the moment I want to come back to over the next few weeks when I’m seeking stillness.
… as I sit delayed in the Denver airport, it’s something that feels pretty useful right about now. One that happened for me this week.
Back to New York, I go (let’s hope). Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
What I’m Watching: WeCrashed
Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway are DYNAMITE in this series about WeWork. They play Adam Neumann (the founder) and his wife Rebekah as the company grows from a single co-working space into a global brand worth $47 billion in under a decade (and then, plummets). New episodes come out every Friday, and it’s on Apple TV+.
Gear I’m Loving: Hoka Speedgoat 5
This is the shoe that I was testing in Moab (a pretty great place to do so, if you ask me). It’s been a minute since I’ve run on really technical terrain, and I was super impressed with how well it held up to all different types of steps and slants. Even on super steep rocks, I felt super secure in the sneaker, likely thanks to the new traction lugs. There was zero slipping, and it felt both breathable and durable — without any bulk.
What I’m Listening To: Mountaintop Conversations by Saysh with Allyson Felix and Wes Felix
From Chelsey: “I binge-listened to five episodes of this on my last long run of marathon training and loved every minute. A new show for me, Allyson and Wes have really candid, insightful conversations with some pretty incredible guests, including Candace Parker and Adam Grant, each with a focus around reaching one's “‘mountaintop,’ so to speak.”
Quote I’m Loving: “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” - Milton Berle

🎧 NEW PODCAST EPISODE: #HURDLEMOMENT: An Expert's Top Tips On Budgeting & Monitoring Your Financial Wellness
Welcome Jamila Souffrant to Hurdle! As a money coach and host of the Journey to Launch podcast, Jamila knows a thing or two about smart saving. On this week’s episode, we're talking about all things budgeting (a big topic request after I had Kumiko Love, The Budget Mom, on the show!). She talks us through tips on how to make (and keep!) one, plus how to make your earnings really work for you and whether or not you should take on a side hustle. Plus: What is financial independence and how to find it.
🎧 NEW PODCAST EPISODE: Sasha DiGiulian, Pro Climber
A long time coming, I'm pumped to finally share my conversation with pro and world champion climber Sasha DiGiulian. We don’t waste any time diving right into so many important topics. Starting with a conversation about goals and sharing them out with the world, making sure to hit on Sasha’s upbringing and journey to her first love that is climbing, and also touch on topics like disordered eating and bullying. Sasha also gets vulnerable as she talks through navigating injury and her progression through recovering from hip surgery during the pandemic, which she admits produced some pretty isolating and dark feelings along the way.
