Presented by LMNT:
I talked on the show a few weeks ago about how I’ve been feeling a little bit off lately. It’s as though my emotions are heightened, and small things that otherwise wouldn’t bother me are sending me into a tailspin. Some may blame the phases of the moon or simply the shift in seasons — which is fair, sure. When writing about my feelings the other morning, I likened the rough patch to a video game.
Follow along with me on this: When you’re playing a video game, you have to work pretty hard to get to the next level. With time, you master the small blips and bits that enable you to successfully progress. And once you do? You’re back in the thick of it. Things are hard again. It takes time to familiarize yourself with whatever’s new, and you must use what you learned in the previous level on your journey.
Right now, I’m leveling up. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself. And in this progression, I’m in the sticky part. The part that feels uncomfortable and frustrating as I figuratively jump from one building block to the next.
Here’s what I know to be true: I’ve managed to navigate this tough stuff before — and so have you.
Just because something’s uncomfortable and difficult doesn’t mean it isn’t doable.
Yeah, that part.
SO TELL ME: What’s one hurdle you’re navigating right now? How does it make you feel?
Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
I’m Loving: UA ArmourDry No-Show Socks
Alright, I told you last week about my sock quest. Similar to when you actually take a look at the wallet you’ve been using for the better part of a year and realize that it’s seen better days, my sock drawer’s in desperate need of an overhaul. Last week, I told you about my love for the Darn Tough Quarter Socks. This week, I tested a no-show option from Under Armour, and can report we’ve got another contender. A great hidden option, with the Goldilocks amount of cushioning without feeling super bulky.
I’m Still Buzzing Over: Athlos
What an awesome night at Icahn Stadium. A huge thank you to Oiselle for inviting me to sit trackside and cheer on some badass, strong women going after the largest prize purse for a women’s track meet, ever.
I’m Listening To: “Glu” by James Vincent McMorrow
I know you love “Higher Love”, and you’ll love this one, too.
Prompt I’m Loving: Where is one place you want to go before the end of the year? It could be in your neighborhood — or a flight away.
Quote I’m Loving: “Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.” — Earl Nightingale
NEW ON THE SHOW 🎧
NEW PODCAST EPISODE 🎧: 320. Mastering Your Craft: Melissa Ortiz On Running Toward Big Goals & Translating Her Passion For Sport Into A Broadcasting Career
"Believe in the run" is the name of the game for today’s guest, Melissa Ortiz. She’s a former pro soccer player, Olympian, and current broadcaster and host who’s had her fair share of hurdles getting to this point. We talk about her career journey, the highs and lows of professional soccer, what it was like to get to the Olympic level and how she segued her passion for sport from the field to the big screen. Melissa shares her advice on how to show up day in and day out with confidence and the reward of working diligently to master your craft.
Melissa also completed her second marathon while in Paris, and I am happy to report that not only did she finish — but she had a remarkable time and her Instagram recap is a must see.

Another (weekly) Hurdle conquered. Catch you guys next week.
Love this! I'm self employed going on 7 years. I know I'm capable of more but really just get by. With that said, I'm training for my 1st marathon (NYC) I've dedicated the time and discipline and doing the work. I really want this to carry over into my work life. It's hard
Needed to read this so much right now! I'm in the early stages of learning Luxembourgish (yes, a real language!) and it's so hard to be so, so bad at something. There are big end goals for learning this language to a certain level (to pass a test that allows me to apply for citizenship!). So I have to keep reminding myself (as does my therapist!) over and over that this is something I'm choosing to do. This is a wonderful time to hold no judgement about all the mistakes I make a long the way, and that each struggle bus day of learning will build blocks for reaching my goal. <3
