Presented by LMNT:
Routine is a gift.
I have a handful of non-negotiable habits that I integrate into my every day. Loosely, my habit stack includes:
Making my bed
Daily reading passage
Journaling
Gratitude
Breath work
Movement, and sun light exposure.
It’s not super complicated. The habits in practice may look different depending on the day (read: timing, duration, or type of movement). However, my routine helps me stay creative, embrace flexibility in other areas, and find my calm. I know this to be true:
When I set aside time to invest in myself, my investment pays off tenfold.
When I love on myself, the world loves me back. The things that stress me out feel a bit more manageable. It may sound a little woo-woo. But! When I get to do the above, life as a whole feels a bit more magical. It’s like the universe shows up for me because I’m showing up for myself. The good news? You have the opportunity to create some of your own magic, too.
If you want to create your own, two helpful tips:
1. Ask yourself: What feels good for ______ ?
What I do as a part of my routine may not feel right for you, and that’s totally understandable. While I encourage everyone to get some sort of sunlight exposure for boosted vitamin D photosynthesis and movement for increased energy (among other perks) as a part of their morning routine, the rest of the slate is up to you. For instance: Don’t read a book you have zero interest in just because someone else is reading it. Find components that excite you and feel exciting to keep up with.
2. Plan Ahead
I’m currently training for a 10K, and sharing this from a cruise ship. Did I know running/my movement would look different than if I was home this week? For sure. But, I did my research to see what available equipment would be on the boat (FYI: A lot, kudos to Virgin Voyages) so that I could remix some aspects and stay accountable. In everyday practice, planning ahead may look like setting out clothes, investing in a notebook you like writing in, or finding an accountability buddy that wants to read the same book as you.
Are there more tips I could offer? For sure. Stay tuned to this Monday’s episode of the show for a download on how to create a sustainable morning routine. And in the meantime? Be good to yourself, and kind to others, too.

I’m Donating To: Help Donna Find a New Home After the Palisades Fire
Sharing a link here for a friend whose mother lost her home in the Palisades fire. Although it was a rental apartment, she’s still displaced. On top of this: She was also recently diagnosed with stage four lung cancer (per the description in the above link, these donations are strictly for a new home). If you have the means, please consider supporting her today.
I’m Reading: Best Case Scenario by Liz Plosser
A huge congratulations to my old boss and dear friend Liz Plosser (peep her episode of Hurdle here) on the launch of her new Substack! Excited to follow along with her “wellness playbook,” as she deems it, aimed at helping readers feel a little better today than they did yesterday.

Movement for me is non-negotiable it doesn't matter if it is a run, strength training, or mobility if I can get at least 30 mins to move my body at the beginning of the day I feel like I can take anything the day has to offer :)
When I love on myself, the world loves me back! Yes, love this whole post! Put what you want out to the universe. Thank you for being Emily!! I hope the last day or so on your cruise give you some sunshine!
