The Devil's In The Details
This common mistake could be what's keeping you from what you really want.

Presented by Sequel:
By now, you all know that I’m a morning person. I “slept in” until 6:20 yesterday, and I felt like I won the lotto. It’s rare that I’m not at the gym or out for a run by 7 a.m., and that happens after other pre-sunrise rituals like skincare, journaling, breathwork, and of course — coffee. Every day, after sharing some aspect of the early hours on social, I get a message from a follower asking a logistics question. Examples:
Do you set an alarm to get up that early?
If I am getting up early to go to the gym, should I eat before I go?
What if I feel extra tired? Do you ever skip your morning workout?
These are all valid questions. But, here’s the thing: Each person that’s asking me one of these questions is likely doing the same thing. Well, rather, not doing the same thing: Starting.
Often times, when we want to start something new — like a project or integrating a fresh habit — it’s easy to get caught up on the small details. Example: Launching a podcast? Well, of course I’ll make 2,283 versions of the cover art, first. Want to register for your first Hyrox? Well, can’t do that until I buy new shoes, and talk to at least 17 people who have done one before. You get the idea.
Truth bomb: Stop obsessing over the small details.
Because when you do, you’re the only thing that’s standing in your own way.
Begin now, and you’ll be one step closer tomorrow than you were today. And while we’re at it: Don’t judge your beginning too harshly, OK?
Keep hurdling,
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
I’m Listening To: “MrBeast: If You Want To Be Liked, Don’t Help People! I Lost Tens of Millions On Beast Games … But I’m Worth $1 Billion!” on Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett
First time listening to this podcast. Was so interested to learn more about MrBeast, a massive YouTube creator with 368 million subscribers. I first learned of him last year (admittedly, I’m not big into watching YouTube myself), and his vulnerability in this episode about the difficulty with maintaining this level of success is something special.
I’m Reading: The Wedding People by Alison Espach
This is easily the most enjoyable book I’ve read in years.
Gear I Love: Bandit Running Cadence Zip Front Race Crop
Obsessing over this new style, part of their Spring 2025 collection drop. If it helps, I spoke with their Chief Design Officer Ardith Singh, and she recommended I shop a size medium (I’m a 34C chest). Also really feeling this Stamina 7 Pocket Nova Crop (I mean how cute is the ribbed material detailing?) and Stamina Iris Crop. Spring went live for those with the Bandit Membership yesterday, and more availability will drop today at 11 a.m.
Gear I Love: Dagne Dover Cairo Sling Bag
Shared this on social last week when I got it, and at this point I’m wearing it daily. The crossbody is big enough for a slew of essentials. This morning, I brought it to the gym and inside, I carried a change of leggings and a sports bra, a water bottle, my kindle, a wallet, and sunglasses. You can get $20 off of your first $100 purchase, here.
Quote I Love: “But I think for me, the best way to really break those barriers is just being myself, being unapologetic about it and being open and speaking about it.” — Jonquel Jones, WNBA Finals MVP, one of USA Today’s Women of the Year
Other thoughts and links: Talked about reclaiming bagels as a part of my regular diet in today’s 5-MINUTE Friday episode. Can you relate? Diana Taurasi announced her retirement this week after an unparalleled career. This video montage of her and Sue gives me the feels. Speaking of basketball greatness, Paige Bueckers is in GQ this week and the spread is making me feel all sorts of UConn nostalgic. The Vomero 18 came out yesterday, and it’s one of my favorite Nike sneakers in years. If you’re a max cushion person, this is a staple for the rotation. Good news: I’m giving away three pairs. To enter to win, comment below and tell me: What keeps you reading the Weekly Hurdle?
And! Keeping this here from last week: I’d love to get involved in some more International Women’s Month events — whether they’re here in New York or not. If you’re coordinating something next month on behalf of a brand, click “email me” below and let’s talk collaborating — whether it’s attending, moderating, facilitating, whatever!
And, of course, anyone who’s reading this can always just message to say hi, too.
MY SOMETHING NEW
One of my goals for 2025 is to do something new every single week. I wrote about this a few weeks back. Dig it? Let me know in the comments below ⬇️
Thursday, February 20: Jazz at The Django
First trip to a New York jazz club, check. What an awesome experience. Like, as I was sitting there sipping my Woodford on the rocks, I noticed I was smiling like a total goof. Saw the 7 p.m. show (there was also one at 9 p.m.). Recommend getting there at least :30 minutes beforehand, so you can get settled and order food and drinks. This particular club, located in the basement of the Roxy Hotel in Tribeca, was pretty casual. Folks were both wearing jeans and a bit more dressed. I felt a little bit like I was in a romantic comedy, and I will definitely be going back.
Meet Sequel — a friend of the show.
I’m going to be honest, because we’re mostly women here: That time of the month is typically such a headache for me. I know, it’s a headache for all of us. But, as long as I can remember — I’ve leaked on a long run or bike ride. That was, until I was introduced to Sequel tampons earlier this year.
Created by two female athletes (listen to Amanda’s story, here) with us active women in mind, Sequel's signature spiral channel creates a longer flow path, re-designing the tampon for the first time in 80 years. In other words: I experienced improved absorption and less leaks. Tested for up to 8 hours of wear, I feel so much more comfortable and at peace knowing that sequel’s got me and my on-the-go lifestyle covered.

Jessie Diggins knows that perfection isn’t reality. But as the most decorated cross country skier in U.S. history, her record’s pretty close. In this week’s episode of Hurdle, I sits down with the 3-time Olympic medalist to talk about her journey to the top of her sport, what it’s like to embrace the pressure of competition and push close to her physical breaking point (blurry vision and all). She also gets candid about her experience with an eating disorder, including a relapse in 2024, and what support looks like for her in her day to day. Plus: How she feels with under a year left until the Winter Olympics, and what it’s like training regularly in Italy leading up to World Championships after her recent World Cup win.
